The Photo Game: People
Background
I joined Kenneth Wajda and a small group of photographers in a weekly photo game a while ago. Kenneth wrote a prompt each week and tasked us with creating a photograph that met the prompt. Unfortunately, Kenneth's photo game is taking a break.
Since I'm not prepared to give up the game, my wife graciously agreed to provide me with a surprise prompt each week so that I can continue.
The rules are still the same:
- All submissions must be scans of film, no photos from digital cameras
- Images must be captured, processed, and submitted by 8 AM each Saturday
- Miss a week, and you're out
My goal in playing is simple. Get out and shoot film.
This Week
I had a lot of fun with the camera this week. The prompt and the Independence Day holiday made for great excuses to get out of the house and make some photographs.
I made this week's cover photo (above) and submission (below) at Castle Rock's 4th of July Celebration. The event was an all-day affair at Philip S. Miller Park, where they hosted a concert, showed movies, and offered a variety of family-friendly activities. There were many people at the event, lots of families, lots of living.
This week's submission is a chaotic one. The girl running through the foreground was a "happy accident." I intended to photograph the boy blowing the bubble, but I'm glad I caught her. Her look of concentration and the hair in her face makes the photo.
