The photo game took us to Berthoud, CO for their annual Oktoberfest last weekend.

We planted some of these grasses in our yard this summer. They're doing okay but not thriving–at least not yet.

This week, I visited a high school to watch a gymnastics meet. Before I went, I expected to see feral teenagers, acting like animals. I imagined it would be like the scene from Mean Girls, with lots of growling, screeching, and snorting.

I love the routine of seeing something, doubling back, and checking it out. It's spontaneous.

These things spoke to me. They caught my eye in a way that compelled me to photograph them, which is the magic of the Photo Game. It forces me to pay attention, to notice things I might miss otherwise.

I had a lot of fun with the camera this week. The prompt and the Independence Day holiday made for great excuses to get out of the house and make some photographs.

Photography took a back seat this week, but I still came away with several images I'm proud to share.

This week's Photo Game was enjoyable because it took me to a new park and a festival in downtown Castle Rock. I didn't get as many triangles as I'd like, but I shot two film rolls.

The meaning of "family" has changed since I married and became a father. I've graduated from participant to leader.

This week's prompt is "Wintertime," which seemed straightforward. Just find some pictures of cold-looking, snowy things. Right?
